Biography

Dr. B.Viswanathan is currently the Head of the National Centre for Catalysis Research at In dian Institute of Technology, Madras after serving the department of Chemistry in the same institute since 1970. He research interests are in the areas of Catalysis, Material Science, and Energy. He has been author/editor of over 30 books and 30 patents and about 500 research publications. He has several honours to his credit.

Dr. Bharat Modhera is an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, India. He received his Ph. D. Degree in Catalysis and Reaction Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, India in 2010. Then worked as an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, India. He is having 05 years of Experience in the field of teaching and research. His Area of Expertise includes: catalysis, reaction engineering, environmental engg., nanomaterials, refinery processes. He is recipient of Ambuja Young Researcher’s Awards, Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR) awards.

Dr. Manju D. Tanwar is a Ph.D. in Material Chemistry from Nagpur University, with more than 10 years of research experience in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) R&D laboratories. She has worked with polytechnic Di Torino University, Italy. She has 14 international research publications, 22 international research proceedings and published a book on environmental pollution. She has received 2 awards and 8 fellowships in India and abroad. She has developed many materials for environmental pollution control and energy related applications etc. Currently she is working as a Chief Scientist and Head, at Five Elements Environmental Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Navi Mumbai, India

Dr. Prabhas Jana is a Senior Assistant Researcher in the Thermochemical Processes Unit of IMDEA Energy Institute, Madrid, Spain. He carried out his doctoral work at National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Pune, India in 2007. Then he continued one year more at NCL as a Research Associate and later he joined to the IMDEA Energy Institute in Spain and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher for five years and currently he has been promoted to Senior Assistant Researcher position. He is having more than six years of experience in the field of Catalysis. His area of expertise includes: Heterogeneous Catalysis, Materials Development, Photocatalysis, Hydrogen Production. He is the author of 33 articles in different international journals and 3 US patents. In 2010, he received a prestigious Juan de la Cierva Fellowship from Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and he is also a life time member of Catalysis Society of India.

Dr. Hemant S Chandak is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of G S College, Khamgaon (SGB Amravati University, Amravati) She/he received his/her Ph.D.Degree in Chemistry from SGB Amravati University in 2003.Then he worked as an Assistant Professor in G S College, Khamgaon Institute/University for 14 Years. He is having 15 Years of Experience in the field of Heterocycylic Chemistry. His Area of Expertise includes: N and S Heterocycle, Heterogenous catalysis, Ionic liquids, Organic synthesis in aqueous medium.

Dr. Indra Neel Pulidindi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bar Ilan, Israel. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from IIT Madras in 2010 and currently carrying out his postdoctoral research at Bar Ilan university, Israel. He has 12 years of experience in the field of Chemical Sciences. His areas of expertise include: Nuclear Chemistry, Catalysis, Materials Science, Electrochemistry and Biofuels. He has 16 research publications to his credit and has applied for 4 patents.

Dr. M. Jhansi Lakshmi Kishore is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering & Technology Department of Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi. She received her Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of technology Kanpur in 2007 and earned her postdoctoral from University College Dublin, Ireland. Then worked as a Research Professor in Kyungpook National University, South Korea for 1.5 Years. She is having 7 Years of Experience in the field of Heterogeneous Catalysis. Her Area of Expertise includes: Kinetic modeling, Development of novel catalyst systems and Alternative energy technologies. She is the author of 10 research articles in national and international journals.

Dr. Mani Karthik is currently working as a Researcher at Thermal Energy Storage Group, Energy Cooperative Research Centre, CIC ENERGIGUNE, Spain. Now he is working on the development of porous materials for the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and Electrical Energy Storage (EES) applications. He successfully completed his Ph.D. (2005) in Chemistry (Materials Science and Heterogeneous Catalysis) at Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai, TN, India. After his Ph.D., he joined as a Research Scientist (From Mar. 2005 to Mar. 2006) at Center for Functional Nanomaterials, Department of Chemistry, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea. Then, he worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor (From Feb. 2009 to July 2009) and Post-Doctoral Researcher (From Sep. 2006 to Jan. 2009) at Institute of Environmental Engineering, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Hsinchu, Taiwan. After three years his research activities in Taiwan, he joined as a Research Scientist (From April 2010 to Feb. 2011) at Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Torino, Torino, Italy. His research areas of specialisation include material science and nanotechnology, porous carbon materials, surface science and heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysts, green chemistry and fine-chemical synthesis, air quality management and pollution control, solar energy and supercapacitors. He has 20 peer reviewed journal articles, 1 book chapter and 2 European patents in his credit. He has participated and presented his research papers in several international and national conferences.

Dr. Mohan Varkolu is a Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry, School of Chemistry & Physics at the University of KwaZulu – Natal, Durban, South Africa. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from Osmania University in 2014 and earned his summer internship from University of Utah, USA in 2012. Then working as a Research Scientist in Chemistry, University of KwaZulu – Natal since October 2014. He is having 5 Years of Experience in the field of Catalysis. His Area of Expertise includes: Heterogeneous catalysis, Novel coupling reactions, Valorization of Biomass derived platform molecules, CO2 Utilization and material science. He is the author of 6 peer review publications, recipient of best poster award in 21st national symposium on catalysis etc.

Dr. M. V. Shankar is a Associate Professor in Department of Materials Science & Nanotechnology at Yogi Vemana University, Vemanapuram, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh (A.P. State University). He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry on «Photocatalytis for decomposition of organic pollutants» from Anna University, Chennai, India in 2003. He earned his postdoctoral research experience for more than 5 years at international laboratories viz., INRA, France, NCU, Taiwan, NIMS, Japan, UDS and CNRS, Strasbourg, France. More than 10 years of research experience in the field of Photocatalysis for water splitting and decomposition of organic pollutants in water/air, Sensors. He has significant contributions in establishment of the department in Yogi Vemana University. He is interested for interdisciplinary research work. His Area of Expertise includes: Development of nanostructured materials for energy applications, Photocatalytic water splitting, Photocatalytic detoxification of organic pollutants, Biomass conversion into value added fuels, CO2 sequestration, Nano-biotechnology. He is the author of 23 research papers and 2 patents, having h-index: 14, i-10 index:14, recipient of Travel Grants from DST, CSIR, TNSCST, India. DST-JSPS Visiting Scientist to KIT, Kanagawa, Japan. He is having on-going collaborative research project with IICT, Hyderabad sponsored by MNRE, New Delhi.

Dr. Nadeem Bashir is an Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Department of Chemistry at Govt. College for Women Nawakadal (affiliated to University of Kashmir) Srinagar J&K. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from University of Kashmir in 2014 and has worked as visiting scholar at Max Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems Dresden Germany (2011) and as Summer Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram Kerala (2012). Then, working as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry at different colleges since 2010, besides performing research at University of Kashmir since 2007. He is having 7 Years of Experience in the field of research (Nonlinear Chemical Dynamics/Coordination chemistry). His Area of Expertise includes: Inorganic Chemistry, corrosion, polymer, kinetics, nonlinear dynamics. He is the author of several national/international publications, Lindau Alumni 2010, Member of European Complex Systems Society.

Dr. Nagaraj P. Shetti is an Associate Professor in Department of Chemistry, KLE Institute of Technology, Visvesvaraya Technological University. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from Karnataka University in 2010 and earned his postdoctoral from Korea University in 2012 then worked as an Assistant Professor in KLE Institute of Technology for two Years. He is having eight Years of Experience in the field of Kinetics and Catalysis, Electroanalytical Chemistry. His Area of Expertise includes: Kinetics and Catalysis, Electroanalytical Chemistry, Electrochemical sensors, Biosensors, Thin film solar cells. He is the author of forty international publications , Received Young Scientist Award from Indian Council of Chemists Dec 2012, Guiding four students for the degree of Ph. D., One student got DST inspire fellowship. Dr. Venkata Narayana, Kalevaru is a Scientist in the Heterogeneous Catalytic Processes Department of Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT).at the University of Rostock, Germany. She/he received his/her Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry (Hetrogeneous Catalysis) from Osmania. University, Hyderabad, India University in 1998 and earned his/her postdoctoral from university of Institute für Angewandte-Chemie Berlin-Adlershof, Berlin (former ACA). Then worked as a Scientist in Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT). Institute/University for 14 Years. He/she is having 16 Years of Experience in the field of Heterogeneous Catalysis. Her/his Area of Expertise includes: Gas phase Heterogeneous Catalytic Reactions, Selective oxidations, Natural gas and CO2 utilisation, Oxidation/Ammoxidation/Acetoxylation of aromatics and so on. He is the author of 80 publications and over 25 patents.

Dr. Nitin Labhsetwar is a Senior Principal Scientist in the Environmental Materials Division at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, India. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from Dr. HG Gour Central University, Sagar, India in 1990 and earned his postdoctoral from National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan as a STA/JSPS Fellow. He worked as Scientist (at different levels) at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, India for more than 20 Years. He is having 27 Years of Research Experience in the field of Materials for environmental and energy related applications. Her/his Area of Expertise includes: Environmental catalysis, materials for environmental and energy applications, perovskites etc. He is the author of 115 papers and 14 international patents and recipient of several Grants, awards and fellowships to work at various International labs./ Institutes.

Dr. P. K. Tandon is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry.at the University of Allahabad. He received his Ph.D.Degree in Science from University of Allahabad in 1982 and earned his postdoctoral from university of then worked in the Department of Chemistry, University of Allahabad for more than 20 Years. He is having 24 Years of Experience in the field of Chemical Kinetics, Catalyzed synthesis, Catalysis by nanoparticles and water purification. His Area of Expertise includes: Chemical Kinetics, Catalyzed synthesis, Catalysis by nanoparticles and water purification She/he is the author of Sixty research papers, Six chapters in reference books, handled seven research projects from CSIR,UGC, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India, DST, CST UP etc. recipient of any Grants, awards etc.

Dr Prakash Samnani is a Professor in the Chemistry Department of Faculty of Science at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU), Vadodara. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry from MSU in 1997. Then he worked as Research Officer in Analytical Division of Sun Pharma Advanced Research Centre, Vadodara for two years. He is having 20 Years of Experience in the field of Analytical Chemistry and Catalysis. His Area of Expertise includes: Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Homogeneous Catalysis He is the author of Several Research Papers and Three books. Currently he has research grants from DBT, CSIR and UGC.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandey is a JSPS researcher in Electronic Functional Materials Group at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, JAPAN. He completed Master degree in physical chemistry at the Kumaun University, Nainital (Uttarakhand, India) in 2004. He was selected as the junior research fellow for pursuing doctoral studies at the Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bangalore, India, affiliated with the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The research work was pursued under the supervision of Prof. V. Lakshminarayanan on electrochemistry and materials science addressing various applications. The doctoral thesis was titled "Electron Transfer and Electrocatalytic Studies on some Organic and Conducting Polymer Nanocomposite Thin Films". CAREER: After submitting the PhD Thesis, he worked at RRI from July 2010 to June 2011. During the same time, he was selected for the JENESYS fellowship of Japanese government in 2010, and worked with Prof. S. Hayase at Kyushu Institute of Technology (KIT) at Kitakyushu, Japan. In June 2011, he joined National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan as a post-doctoral researcher to work with Dr. M Higuchi. The work is to measure the electrical conductivity and electrochemical properties of organic-metallic polymer thin films. In June 2013, he was selected for the Japan Society for the promotion of science (JSPS) post-doctoral fellowship at National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan. The work is on the development of the high proton conducting metallo-supramolecular polymers. He is the author of 15 international peer reviewed publications and 2 international patents. INTERESTS: When he is not doing the best to conquer the world of chemical science, he is a keen traveler, a foodie and enthusiastic photographer.

Dr. Sunaja Devi Kr Is An Associate Professor In The Department Of Chemistry At The Christ University, Bangalore She/He Received His/Her Ph.D. Degree In Chemistry From Cochin University Of Science And Technology, Kochi, Kerala In 2004. Then Worked As A Lecturer In Stella Maris College, Chennai (Madras University) For 4. Years, And Later Joined In Christ University As Assistant Professor. He/She Is Having 11 Years Of Experience In The Field Of Teaching And Research. Her/His Area Of Expertise Includes: Heterogeneous Catalysis, Photo Catalysis, Green Chemistry, Microporous And Mesoporous Materials.

Dr. Tungabidya Maharana is an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department of National Institute of Technology Raipur. She received her Ph.D. Degree in Polymer Science and Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2010 and after that she worked as Lecturer in Ravenshaw University. She is having more than 10 Years of Experience in the field of Catalysis, Biodegradable polymers and Polymer Chemistry. She has published around 20 research papers and also 2 book chapters.

Dr V K Gupta is a Head , Polymer R&D at Reliance Industries Limited , Navi Mumbai. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry. from Banaras Hindu University in 1984 and earned his postdoctoral from university of Alabama at Birmingham, USA Then worked as a R&D Head / Sr Research Officer in Gharda Chemicals / IPCL for 12. Years. He is having 30 Years of Experience in the field of Catalysis & Polymers. His Area of Expertise includes:Catalysis , Polymers and Materials He is the author of 75 Research Publication, 110 Patents Applications, Three Trade Mark of Products and recipient of many awards etc like Vasvik Awards for Excellence in Science & Technology.
