Biography

Rajiv Gupta is Senior Professor of Civil Engineering, at BITS, Pilani. He received his Ph.D. Degree from BITS, Pilani in 1996. In his last 27 years of teaching and research he has authored a number of books and course development material, published more than 100 research papers in renowned journals and presented in conferences in India and abroad, guided number of Ph.Ds. He is involved in a World Bank and DST sponsored project to implement rainwater-harvesting schemes in 6 villages of Rajasthan and completed/ continuing projects worth more than 200 lacs in different fields. He is having teaching and research experience mainly in fields of soft computing, concrete technology, Remote sensing and GIS, and Water-Energy Conservation

Dr.Nilanchal Patel is a Professor in the Department of Remote Sensing at the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi, India. He received his Ph.D.Degree in Remote Sensingfrom IIT Kanpur in 1992.Then he worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi for four years. He is having 28 Years of Experience in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS.His Area of Expertise includes: Environmental Remote Sensing and GIS, Urbanization, Traffic Congestion and Road Network Analysis, Land Degradation, Desertification, Natural Hazards, Agronomy, Climate Change and Glacier and Snow Dynamics, Landuse and Landcover Change, Pattern Recognition and Image Processing etc. He is the author of 60 research papers in international journals and conferences and recipient of several awards.

Dr. S.B. Singh is an ICI member and Professor at Civil Engineering Department at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. He has 25 years of teaching and Research experience. Recently, he has been selected as Fellow of Institution of Engineers. His current areas of research are development of design guidelines for Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforced prestressed concrete structures in particular and composite structures in general including nonlinear finite element modelling. He has been Indian Team Leader for prestigious UKIERI collaborative research project on sustainable concrete Infrastructure. He is also member of various committee and serving as editorial board member of various Journals. Currently, he is representing BITS Pilani on committee of Ireland-India Concrete Research Initiatives (IICRI). Most recently, He has authored technical book entitled “ Analysis and Design of FRP Reinforced Concrete Structure,” published by McGraw Hill Publications, New Delhi. He has been awarded many grants from government and non-government organization.

D. Nagesh Kumar received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1992. He worked as a Boyscast Fellow at the Utah Water Research Laboratory, Utah State University, USA, in 1999. He has been a Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India, since May 2002. He is also Chariman, Centre for Earth Sciences, IISc, Bangalore. Earlier, he worked in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal, India, and National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad, India. His research interests include Climate Hydrology, Climate Change, Water Resources Systems, ANN, Evolutionary Algorithms, Fuzzy logic, MCDM and Remote Sensing & GIS applications in water resources engineering. He has co-authored two text books titled “Multicriterion Analysis in Engineering and Management” published by PHI, New Delhi and “Floods in a Changing Climate: Hydrologic Modeling”, published by Cambridge University Press, U.K.

Dr. S.P Agarwal Engaged in research & development work in the area of new alternative building materials using agro-industrial wastes and renewable materials to conserve conventional building materials for sustainable development with the green concept. Developed number of value added products as alternative building materials and technologies for construction industry which include Coir-CNSL Board as wood alternative (eco-friendly), bagasse-cement composites, bagasse-PVC composites, bagasse-LDPE waste composites, Low density boards for thermal and acoustic insulation using paper industry waste, Arhar stalk-cement composite, paper from pine needles, rigid PVC foam boards etc. Most of these developed products and technologies are for wood alternatives. Many of them are patented and a few commercialized too. Other aspects of the experience include material characterization and performance evaluation, quality control, material selection and techno-economic feasibility studies of newer technologies. The recent work was the bio-degradable nursery pots using forest waste. This development will not only lead to the utilization of huge forest waste generating every year but also save the forests from fire besides employment generation. Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. of India supported this work. Another activity was the development of multi functional wall tiles having dual purpose using Kota stone waste. This work has the support from DST, New Delhi. Also provided technical support/consultancy to organisation from abroad for replacement of asbestos fiber with natural cellulosic fibers for making corrugated roofing sheets with cement, use of rubur wood pulp for making hard board and MDF boards. Published more than 70 research papers in National and International journals & Seminars/Symposiums. Done R&D work for Building Material & Technology Promotion Council, New Delhi, Min. of Environment & Forest, Min. of Agriculture, Department of Science & Technology etc.

Dr. Shekhar kumar Chakrabarti is the professor in the Civil Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is received his Ph.d Degree Civil Engineering from University of Arizona, U.S.A in 1987. He is also Head (Acting) of Deaprtment of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. Structural Engineering: Strucural Mechanics, Behaviour and Design of structures, Structural Connections, Structures Health Monitoring and Rehabilitation of Structures his area of Specialization.

Dr. B. B. Das, Assistant Professor at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Dr. B. B. Das is currently serving as Assistant Professor at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Prior, he was serving as a Senior Associate Professor and Centre Head at National Institute ofConstruction Management and Research (NICMAR), Goa campus. He has beenworking as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan, USA. His area of research project management, energy efficiency, green construction management,microstructure characterization of materials, non-destructive testing of concrete structures, corrosion of reinforcement and durability studies on concrete. He is an Associate Member of American Concrete Institute and representing in the International Faculty Network Committee launched by the ACI Education Foundation in 2009. He is representing as the Editorial Board Member of four international journals, also serving as the potential Reviewer to a number of national and international level journals and has published his quality research work substantially with ASCE, ASTM and Elsevier journals.

Prof. Ashvani Kumar Gosain is the professor in the Civil Engineering Department of IIT Delhi. He is received his Ph.d Water Resources Engg. (Hydrology) IIT Delhi. He is also Head (Acting) of Deaprtment of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi from 2009, He is the the Co-author of the Integrated Watershed Management through Simulation Modelling with Livelihood Linkages and GIS based Approaches.

Dr. Baskar Kaliyamoorthy is the Associate Professor,Civil engineering Department NIT Trichy -620015. He is Completed his Ph.D Degree in the Department of Civil Engineering, National University of Singapore, Singapore, 2003. His area of Specialization are Steel, Steel-concrete composite and Finite element Modeling and Analysis.

Dr. Sukhdeo Karade working as a Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, Uttarakhand (India). He is completed his Ph.d from Brunel University UK.

Prof. Jayant Kumar serving as a professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is done his his Ph.d from Geotechnical Engineering in 1994 from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, thes he has started working as a Scientist in Geotechnical Engineering Division, Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi. He has more than 50 international publications related to his area of specialization.

Dr. Vasant Matsagar is a Associate Professor in IIT Delhi. He has has completed Ph.d from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay while he has done his Post doctoral research fellow from Lawrence Technological University, Michigan, USA. He has 7 Years teaching experience as well as he has 19 years experience as senior principal and advisor.

Dr. S. Mohan is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His research interests include Environmental System Analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment, Water Quality Modeling, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Water Resources System Analysis, GIS and its Applications, and Evolutionary Algorithms.

Pranab kumar Mohapatra is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. He has done his Ph.d from IIT Kanpur. His research interests include Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering,Transients in pipe flow, Transients in open channel flow, Frequency domain analysis in pipe flow.

Prof. Nagendra Roy is serving as a Professor in National institute of Technology, Rourkela. His has taken his Ph.d degree from IIT Delhi. His area of specialization is Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, Rock Mechanics.

Prof. P V Sivapullaiah is a Professor in Department of Civil Engineering of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is member of Expert committee member for many National bodies such as AICTE, NAAC, NBA, UGC, DST, MOEF, UPSC etc. He has Published more than 220 papers in International and National Journals and conference / seminar Proceedings. He is also author of 6 Chapters in Books and 1 Edited Book, hindex:13 Member Editorial Board Member for International Journal of Environmental Protection, Frontiers in Soil Science.

Dr. P.C. Thapliyal is an Associate Professor and Principal Scientist in the Organic Building Materials Group at the CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India.He received his Ph.D. Degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Delhi University in 1994. Then worked as an Assistant Professor and Post-Doctoral Fellow in Delhi University for Four Years. He is having Twenty Years of Experience in the field of Materials. His Area of Expertise includes: Paints and coatings, polymers, nanomaterials, synthesis, pigments, corrosion, health monitoring of structures, repair materials. He is the author of more than fifty research papers, book chapter, and recipient of CSIR-NET fellowship, several awards for technology transfers and best research paper. He is member of different expert committees in academia and industry such as BIS, IIT, CCSU and DU etc. He is in the board of editors and reviewer for number of journals. He has delivered number of invited talks and completed several research projects including one international.

Dr. Ma Chau Khun is a Senior Lecturer at Department of Structure and Materials, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Born in Kota Marudu, Sabah in 1985, Ma studied at S.M.K Kota Marudu, Sabah in 1998 and Labuan Matriculation College in 2003. In 2004, Ma was awarded scholarships by the Malaysian government agency (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) to pursue his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), which he successfully completed in 2008 as the best student with First Class Honours. Ma later joined Perunding Teknovasi (Kota Kinabalu) as Chief Executive Engineer in 2008, where he involved in more than 20 construction projects. In 2010, he joined Perunding Arif Reka Sdn.Bhd. as a Senior Design Engineer until September 2011. Again, he was awarded scholarships by the Malaysian government agencies (MyBrain15) to pursue Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (Structure) at UTM, which he successfully completed in 2014.

Mohammadreza Vafaei (PhD, P.Eng., M.ASCE, M.EERI, M.SSA) is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM JB and a research fellow of Forensic Engineering Center, and Institute of Noise and Vibration, UTM. As a Professional Engineer previously serving a consultant company in Iran, he has been involved in several forensic investigations and seismic retrofit works following earthquake events in Iran since 2003. His expertise includes seismic design of special structures like tower and bridges, seismic rehabilitation, damage identification, nonlinear structural analysis.

Norhazilan Md Noor is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM and projrct leader of two projects. His area of expertise Reliability Engineering, Pipeline Integrity Assessment, Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification, Soil-Corrosion Engineering, Microbiological-Induced Corrosion, Risk-based Inspection, Repair and Maintenance, Pipeline Composite Repair.

Dr. Akshey Bhargava is presently Professor in Civil Engineering, Global Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. He has been the “Member Secretary “to the Rajasthan Pollution Control Board, Jaipur, also has been Senior visiting Prof. L.D. College of Engineering and CEPT University, Ahmedabad and Director Kalol Institute of Technology and Research Centre, Kalol, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. Also was Director, Jyoti Rao Phoole University, Jaipur and Technical Advisor/ Environmental Advisor to various consultancy organizations.

Dr. P. K. Agarwal, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, (Transportation Engineering) at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology ,Bhopal (MP). His Educational Qualifications are Ph. D. (Civil Engg.) (Transportation System Engg.) (IIT Kanpur), M.E. (Civil Engg.) (Transportation System Engg.) (IIT Roorkee), B.E. (Civil Engg.) (IIT Roorkee) He has 21 years of Experience, his Publication; International Journals: 25, National Journals: 11, International Conference: 21, National Conference: 24. He is Member of various professional bodies like Indian Road Congress (IRC), Institute of Urban Transport (IUT), Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Transportation Research Group of India (TRG). He is actively involved in providing testing and consultancy services in the area of Civil Engineering/ Transportation Engg to various Govt. &Non Govt. Organizations like MPRRDA, BDA, CPA, NRRDA, BPCL, AAI etc. He was Chairman, Council of Warden, Sr. warden, Warden, Asstt Proctor, Department Coordinator, TEQIPII, (Dept. of Civil Engg.), PG Course Coordinator Transportation Engg. President, Mandir Samiti, NSS Program Officer, etc.

Ranjan Kumar is a Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering at the Gautam Budh Technical University. He earned his (M.Tech) in Civil Engineering with specialistaion in Environmental Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Then worked as a Assistant Professor in IILM Greater Noida. He is having 5.3 Years of Experience in the field of teaching. His Area of Expertise includes: Solid waste, water, air, EIA, Waste Management etc. He is the author of “Understanding the effect of acid rain on physico-chemical and engineering properties of black cotton soil” and “Enhanced production and characterization of biosrfactant produced by newly isolated Bacillus amyloliquefaciens USTBb using response surface methodology” etc.

Prof. Saad Issa Sarsam got his BSc. in Civil Engineering (1977), Post graduate diploma in Transportation Engineering (1978); MSc in Transportation Engineering (1980). He worked as senior material Engineer for NCCL (1982-1992); He joined the academic staff at University of Mosul (1992-2005) and got the Assistant Professor degree at (2002); He joined the academic staff at University of Baghdad (2005 until now) and got the Professor degree at (2007). He has published more than 150 research paper in International and National journals. He has more than 25 Conferences Participation (With Paper Presentation) in various International platforms. He has received more than 50 prestigious awards by different organizations. He worked as Scientific reviewer in more than 50 Cosultation. He is editorial board member in various peer reviewed journals. Areas of specialization and interest: (Roller compacted concrete; modified asphalt concrete; Asphalt stabilized embankment models; Road user characteristics).

Dr. R.S. Ajin is presntly working as a Hazard Analyst at Department of State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), Kerala. He received his Master of Science (M. Sc.) Degree in Applied Geology from School of Earth Atmospheric Sciences, University of Madras, Chennai. Then he worked as a Research Associate in GeoVin Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for 4 years. He is having 4 years of Experience in the field of Civil Engineering. His Area of Expertise includes: Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System, Natural Hazards & Disaster Management, Geosites, Geomorphosites, Geoparks & Geotourism , Environmental Geology & Hydrogeology, Natural Resources & Environmental Management, Engineering Geology & Geomorpholog. He is the author of “Forest fire risk assessment using geospatial techniques: A study in Mannarkkad forest division of Palakkad district, Kerala, India”and “ Delineation of flood hazard zones in Meenachil River Basin, Kottayam, Kerala, India: A study using geo-information technology.” He was awarded First Rank in M. Dr. Manoj Khandelwal is a Professor in the School of Engineering and Information Technology Faculty of Science and Technology Federation University. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Rock Engg. from IIT Bombay and earned his postdoctoral from Monash University, Australia. Then worked as a Lecturer in Federation University Australia 3Years. He 11 Years of Experience in the field of teaching. His Area of Expertise includes: Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering & Technology, Structural Engineering and Management etc. He is the author of more than 70 National and International Journals.

Mawuli Dzakpasu, Ph.D., Aff.M.ASCE received his M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering and Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology, Ghana and Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland, respectively. He has worked at University College Dublin, Ireland since graduation on wetland and sustainable urban water management systems. He is also a visiting researcher and lecturer at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, China. His research has been focused on integrated constructed wetlands, alternative water resources technologies, sustainable water management, urban water systems analysis, and water resources and quality forecasting. He has coordinated and contributed to several multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research projects.

Dr. Abdollah Malekjafarian is a Professor in the School of Civil Engineering, University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering from School of Civil Engineering, University College Dublin in 2016 and earned his postdoctoral from University College Dublin, Dublin. He is having 9 Years of Experience in the field of Teaching. His Area of Expertise includes: Structural Health Monitoring of Transport Infrastructure, Bridge Dynamics, Railway Track Monitoring, Structural Dynamics and Modal Analysis ect. He is Member of ASCE, CERAI, CERAI etc. He is the author of many National and International Journals.
