Server Based Operating System (OS) Research Direction for Future Smart World Using Internet of Things

Abstract

Communication and data processing over Internet has become a research issue to the

researchers of Internet of Things (IoT). Cloud computing is already familiar at present. Cloud

computing offers servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and more, over

the Internet (“the cloud”). Companies offering these computing services over Internet (“the

cloud”) and typically, charge for cloud computing services based on usage, similar to how

you are billed for water or electricity at home. Another term is distributed computing in which

components located on networked computers, components communicate and coordinate their

actions by passing messages to serve the common goal. Some important electronic devices

such as laptop, palmtop, cell phone and others perform their operations by the combination of

hardware and software. Inside these electronic devices, there is a communication link among

different parts such as ROM, RAM, storage and processor. All communication links perform

like a network and that is reliable. In this paper, we propose a noble research direction to

make a smart world by making the wireless network as reliable as physical link inside the

devices and running the OS as well as applications from the server.
