Effect of Process Parameters on Material Removal Rate of Wire-Cut EDM of AISI EN 31 Tool Steel

Nimratjot Singh, Khushdeep Goyal, Rakesh Bhatia

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to find the effect of input process parameters on the material removal rate of WEDM of AISI EN 31 tool steel. The parameters taken for this study were pulse on time, pulse off time, peak current. The other process parameters like wire tension, servo voltage, wire feed rate, and spark gap voltage are kept constant. The experiment was designed using Taguchi’s L18 orthogonal array. The analysis of variance was used to study the overall effect of these parameters. The result revealed that pulse on time and pulse off time are the most significant to influence material removal rate (MRR), followed by wire type.
