Efficient Plant Monitoring and Control using Improved Human Machine Interface with Intelligent Features

Abstract


The Human Machine Interface (HMI) plays an important role in Nuclear Power Plant monitoring and control for ensuring plant safety and reliability. A well designed operator interface provides an effective platform for efficient plant monitoring and control under all conditions. The past statistics indicate that most of the accidents that have taken place are due to human error where HMI was also one among the contributing factors. This paper discusses about the improvements that are possible to bring down such errors to a large extent with Human Machine Interface as a main theme. It can also guide the operator to make quicker and accurate inference and make flawless decisions. This paper highlights the design and implementation of improved HMI with intelligent features, the advantages, methodologies adopted and mimics with dynamic display of parameters.
