Frequency of Physical Activities by Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Kashmir Valley

Abstract

The therapeutic regimen which is useful in the management of Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) profoundly includes physical activity and exercise. The paper focuses on the extent and type of physical exercise indulged by T2DM patients in Kashmir valley. The study was carried out in the major hospitals (both government and private) having Endocrinology department situated in Srinagar district as well as private health clinics. A total of 1000 diabetic adults comprising both males and females in the age group of 25–60 years and above were included in the study. Although the patients were aware that physical exercise is one of the cornerstones in the treatment of diabetes mellitus (DM) along with nutrition and medication, still most of them were actually not found to be involved in any sort of such exercises.
