A Developed and Validated Densitometric HPTLC method for Quantitative Analysis of Cefdinir

Mitesh Phale

Abstract

A sensitive and accurate high performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed and validated. Chromatographic separation was performed on silica gel F254 HPTLC plates, prewashed with methanol using methanol: toluene (9.5: 0.5 v/v), as solvent system. The plates were scanned densitometrically, with a deuterium lamp at 286 nm. The method was validated in accordance with the requirements of the ICH guidelines. The response to cefdinir concentration was linear in the concentration range of 7.5 - 22.5 µg/ml. Intraday and interday precision was less than 0.16 and 2.05 % respectively with an overall accuracy of 99.07-100.80 %. Thus the proposed method is simple, sensitive, precise and accurate, further finding its wide application in quantitative analysis of cefdinir in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms.
