Abstract

The quantum of plastic waste in municipal solid waste (MSW) is increasing due to increase in population, urbanization, development activities and changes in life style, which leading widespread littering on the landscape. Thus disposal of waste plastic is a menace and become a serious problem globally due to their non-biodegradability and unaesthetic view. Since these are not disposed scientifically and possibility to create ground and water pollution. Plastics are user friendly but not eco-friendly as they are non-biodegradable. Generally it is disposed by way of land filling or incineration of materials which are hazardous. The better binding property of plastics in its molten state has helped in finding out a method of safe disposal of waste plastics, by using them in road laying Plastic usage has been increased in our daily life. Due to this increased usage of plastic the disposal of plastic has been difficult. Some studies say that a 10 million tone of plastic is produced in India and only 2 million tons of plastic wastes are recycled. Plastics have to be disposed or else it will be hazardous to nature and environment. Thus one of the best ways of disposal of these plastics is to use in bituminous road construction by melting them.  Many  highway      agencies are doing variousstudies on environmental suitability and performance of recycled products in high construction.
