Improvement in Performance of Single Stage Open Well Centrifugal Pump by Reducing Recirculation Loss Achieved by Modification in Impeller

Abstract


Centrifugal pump has a wide variety of application in domestic, industrial and agricultural purpose. The performance of centrifugal pump is very important parameter to study about. In this paper, the focus is kept on the region where recirculation loss is maximum and how this loss should be reduced by changing the shape of the blade. All the analysis has been carried out in ANSYS workbench and the model is developed in Solid Works by cavity modeling. The present study was carried out for 4 and 5 numbers of vanes, for inlet blade angle 26 degree, for exit blade angle 45 degree it is. Through analysis it was found that maximum head when number of blades were 5, inlet angle was 26 degrees and outlet angle was 45 degrees. Head generated was 21.94 m at 2800 rpm.
