Abstract

An analysis and numerical results are presented for frequencies of rectangular plates of non-linear thickness variation in x-direction and linearly in y-direction with linearly temperature distribution on the basis of classical plate theory. An approximate but quiet convenient frequency equation is derived by using Rayleigh-Ritz technique with a two term deflection function. Effect of the thermal gradient together with taper constants on the natural frequencies of vibration a clamped rectangular plate is illustrated for the first two modes of vibration. The results have been presented in tabular forms.
