Abstract

A process known as Deep Drawing is used to force the metal sheet to flow between punch’s surfaces and die. Thus it is a process of Transformation of Shape with material retaining. A part is said to be deep drawn if the depth of the part is at more than half of its diameter. Number of defects can occur in the deep drawn product. There are several parameters which affects deep drawing process. By regulating these parameters many defects can be reduced. These parameters are mainly Blank holder force, punch force and punch speed, friction forming limits, stress and strain distribution, thickness variation etc. The paper aims to review effects of these parameters on the process of deep drawing.  Keywords: Deep Drawing, Blank Holder Force, sheet metal thickness, forming limit
