Metal matrix composites (MMCs) based on magnesium alloys are excellent candidates for engineering light structure materials, and have great potential in automotive, high performance defence and aerospace applications. Crackpropagation as well as delamination along to the interface are two major failure modes of the multilayered composites subjected over bending load. In this paper, the study is focused on the preparation of metal-matrix composites with SiC and B4C reinforcement in particulate form. The compo casting method was adopted to prepare the composite due to easy and effective method for dispersion particulate. The composite microstructure is subsequently discussed with respect to grain refinement, reinforcement distribution, and interfacial characteristics. The mechanical properties like tensile strength and hardness of the magnesium matrix composites are also reported. The micro structural features of the fabricated composite materials are evaluated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).Cite this Article Arun Singh.
