Abstract

This paper analyzes the outage probability of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmit antenna selection with a maximal ratio combining (TAS/MRC) system considering equal and exponential correlation among the input branches of MRC receiver. In TAS/MRC system the transmitter selects the best antenna out of the total transmit antennas based on the channel state information (CSI) of each user. A closed form expression has been derived for outage probability considering Nakagami-m fading channels. Also, effect of correlation on the outage probability has been studied. It has been observed that outage performance degrades with increase in correlation for both the cases.   Keywords: antenna selection, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), correlation, Nakagami-m fading, maximal ratio combining (MRC)
