Determination of Engine Performance Parameters of a Stationary Single Cylinder Compression Ignition Engine Run on Biodiesel from Wild Grape Seeds/Diesel Blends
Nøgleord:
brake power, brake thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption, exhaust temperatureResumé
Biodiesel produced from wild grape seed oil was blended with petro-diesel in different proportions: 5:95, 10:90, 15:85, and 20:80 and pure petro-diesel and designated as B5, B10, B15, B20 and B0 respectively. These blends were used to power a Vikin 16F, two-stroke, single-cylinder stationary diesel engine. The engine Performance test was carried out on each of the blends and it was observed that B20 has the best specific fuel consumption as well as brake thermal efficiency for high-power output requirements of 1000 W and above, while B15 has the best specific fuel consumption and brake thermal efficiency for low power output requirements less than 1000 W. So, B15 and B20 are recommended for use in both commercial and industrial sectors pending the desired output.
