Resumé

AbstractConcern regarding environmental issues and energy consumption is been rising from last few decades. Though the world is transiting towards renewable energy, even today 60% of the worlds energy needs are met by fossil fuels only which in turn is leading to environmental concern and scarcity of natural resources. Construction sector is one of the major areas of energy consumption in this regard. Building sustainably is subject to sensible use of green building systems and techniques. This paper provides a brief review about what precisely is a green building. Further, the paper deals with environmental impacts during pre-construction and post-construction stages, and alternative sustainable methods. The outcome of this study would be helpful in selecting effective methods and material for space cooling heating and lighting for sustainable construction.Keywords: Green buildings, pre-construction, post-constructionCite this Article Madhushree KJ, Karthik N.
