Photovoltaic: Environmental, Health and Safety Issues
Resumen
Photovoltaic (PV) technologies have many environmental advantages over conventional technologies for generating electricity. The function of PV systems is silent one, without any toxic gas emissions, or greenhouse gases. PV electricity generation—apart from of which technology is used—is a zero-emissions performing practice. PV technology is very much related with the electronic industry where we can find a number of social impacts throughout the supply chain from raw material mining to disposal. A number of toxic, flammable and explosive chemicals are being used in considerable quantities in the manufacturing process technology of solar cells. Many of these components are supposed to cause a health hazard to the workers involved in the production stage of solar cells. Solar panels can cause soil erosion and adverse effect on agriculture.
