Abstrakt

1, 6-dihydroxy-3-methoxy- 8- methyl xanthones from Swertia purpurascens Wall. (Gentianaceae) has been isolated along with oleanolic acid. 1,6-dihydroxy-3-methoxy- 8- methyl xanthones for the first time has been reported from this plant source and identified by means of chemical as well as spectroscopic methods.Keywords: Swertia, 1, 6-dihydroxy-3-methoxy- 8- methyl xanthones, oleanolic acid, isolation.
