The synthesis and structural characterization of two novel compounds, 4-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)-3-methyl-5-mercapto-s-triazole and 3-ethyl-4-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)-5-mercapto-s-triazole and their Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) complexes in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios have been described with the help of different techniques like IR, 1H-NMR, magnetic moment, electronic spectra, thermal and XRD studies. The Schiff bases are coordinated to metal ion through S and N. Octahedral geometry has been proposed around Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ions and in case of Cu(II) the square planar geometry is expected. Keywords: triazole, Schiff base, metal complexes, XRDDownloads
