Resumen

Increasing applications of stainless steel in various fields where corrosion resistance is of prime importance, electrolytic polishing enhances the corrosion resistance of the component by decreasing the micro roughness. The current paper focuses on study of electrolytic smoothening technique for AISI316LN and the factors affecting the process as well. Factors which affect this process are composition of electrolytic bath, time, current–voltage relationship, temperature, stirring rate, etc. Detail analysis has been carried out on electro-polishing of AISI316LN with different electrolyte with respect to time. Roughness test has been carried out on the samples to determine the smoothening effect in correlation with electrolyte composition and time.
