Abstract

In this work we investigated friction stir welding of Aluminum Alloy 2014, Aluminum Alloy 8011. The major defects occurring while friction stir welding are tunnel effect, poor tensile strength, uneven material flow. The main causes for these defects are improper selection of welding parameters. The major welding parameters considered in Friction stir welding are spindle rotational speed (rpm), tool travel speed (mm/min) and tool angle (degree). In this work steps are taken to reduce the defects by selecting suitable machining parameter and we found the results were satisfactory through tensile strength ,bending strength and microstructure analysis. Keywords: Friction stir welding, welding parameters, tensile test, bending test, microstructure Cite this Article: Rajesh Kannan G, Murali K, Deepan Bhararhi Kannaa T., Analysis of friction stir welded Aluminum alloys 2014 and 8011.
