Abstract

Graphene attracts particular interests due to its unique properties like high temperature operations, high mechanical strength and lubricating properties etc. Recently Arshi and Dighewar have studied to improve surface roughness, tool life and production rate of materials by using a protective covering of titanium nitride (TiN) over steel tools [1]. They have obtained satisfactory results. In this paper, we use graphene as a coating on metal cutting tools and have obtained improved values of the same parameters with some other additional advantages which ultimately increase the performance and efficiency of cutting tools used for mechanical and production engineering sectors.  Keywords: Graphene, coated cutting tools, coolants
