Approximately four million global neonatal deaths that occur annually, 98% occur in developing countries, where most newborns die at home while they are cared by mothers, relatives, and traditional birth attendants. In Unani system of medicine, various procedures have been extensively described for care of newborn. Unani classical texts like Practica Puerorum, Canon of medicine, Liber Regius etc. have given prime importance to the care of newborn.
