Compliance for Primary Immunization in Children in an Urban Slum of Delhi

Resumen

 To assess the compliance with primary immunization among children in the age group of 1–5 years and its relation with selected variables, a descriptive survey was conducted in an urban slum of Delhi. Parents of 200 children were interviewed and a checklist was used to assess the immunization status of the children. Data was analyzed through the descriptive and inferential statistics using frequency, percentage and chi-square. The compliance with primary immunization was found to be 76.5%. Statistically significant relationship was found between compliance with primary immunization with both mother and father’s literacy. Study implies that there is a need of more vigorous and consistent immunization drives to be conducted by governmental and non-governmental bodies particularly among parents with low literacy.
