The Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme (PTP) on Knowledge Regarding Antioxidant Diet among Staff Nurses

Resumen

People can identify at least one or two antioxidant vitamins and or minerals due to media and advertisement, but misconceptions exit about the role of antioxidants in the diet and in human disease. Therefore, properly training future nurses, doctors, nutrition educators, dieticians, researchers and other medical professionals about the biochemical functions of antioxidant nutrients should be a point of emphasis. The purpose of the present study was to assess nurses learning, address nurses misconceptions and to give nurses an opportunity to develop higher order knowledge on biochemical functions of the antioxidant nutrients. In order to assess nurses learning, teaching plan was designed to engage nurses learning regarding antioxidant diet.   Keywords: Nutrition, T-test, antioxidants, disease prevention
