Abstract

A questionnaire survey on work-related health complaints was performed among nursing staffs and students. The main aim is to assess the prevalence of, and risk factors for, musculoskeletal complaints, systemic diseases and respiratory distress among hospital nurses. Information was received from 130 nursing students and 182 nursing staff. Nearly 50% of the participants had experienced some occupation-related health problem during the last year. Dermal reaction was the most common health complaint among the participants which was attributed to the usage of latex gloves.The difference in the prevalence of occupational hazards between nursing staffs and student was not significant.
