Level of Anxiety among Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy

Аннотация

Anxiety is a normal reaction to cancer. In patients anxiety can be related to frightening aspects of treatment or to the uncertainty of coping with a potentially life threatening diagnosis. The objective of the present study was to assess the anxiety level of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. The methodology adopted for the study involved a non experimental quantitative survey design.  A total of 100 patients receiving chemotherapy at Day Care Center of a tertiary care hospital were enrolled by using convenience sampling technique.  Speilberger’s State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used to assess the level of anxiety. The result of the study findings revealed that majority of patients had moderate level of anxiety on (STAI) Inventory. State & Trait anxiety was statistically associated (p=0.000)
