This paper focuses on the development of wind turbine system and extracting maximum power for variable speed constant frequency grid connected wind turbine power system with doubly fed induction generator. A voltage oriented control scheme is used for the control of both rotor side and grid side circuit. Pitch control mechanism is implemented for the power limitation at a wind speed greater than the rated speed. The DFIM stator side is conncected to the grid directly, which delivers 70% of the total active power to the grid. The rotor side of DFIM is connected to the grid through a back to back voltage source converter which delivers 30% of the active power to the grid. This wind turbine power system is modeled and simulated in the Matlab/Simulink.
