Photovoltaic System Based Modified SEPIC Converter with Perturb and Observe Algorithm
Resumo
In recent years, because of the increasing demand of the electrical energy, the solar energy has been considered as one of principal renewable energy sources for electric power generation. As it has low power efficiency; to increase the extracted power from PV system is a matter of concern. To extract maximum power, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is necessary in a PV system. In this paper, a PV fed high static gain step-up dc-dc converter based on the modified SEPIC converter with magnetic coupling is presented. By employing some modifications in classical SEPIC converter, the static gain of proposed converters increased considerably up to 20 times. The MATLAB simulation model is developed with PV MPPT fed modified SEPIC with magnetic coupling and output diode clamping. The result shows that the proposed topologies of converters provide low switch voltage, low output diode voltage and immunize reverse recovery current. With the proposed topologies, the static gain of the converter is increased as well as the efficiency of converter is increased up to about 92%.
