Analysis and Implementation of Carrier Based and Space Vector PWM Techniques on a Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverter
Аннотация
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of carrier based and space vector pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques on a two-level three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI). The results of simulations performed in Matlab/Simulink are compared to the results obtained from the implementation of the PWM schemes on an actual VSI whose PWM signals are generated using dSpace. The analysis of the inverter line to line voltages includes, a fast fourier transform (FFT), a total harmonic distortion (THD) and a distortion factor (DF) analysis. The results show that the simulation and experimental waveforms are very identical. Also, for the same amplitude modulation index, it is observed that third harmonic injection PWM and space vector PWM have lesser THD, lesser DF and greater dc voltage utilization compared to sinusoidal PWM. The analysis further shows that the results obtained in the simulation and experimentation from third harmonic injection PWM as a result of the injection of a third harmonic component are very similar to that of space vector PWM.
