Abstract

Recently, pinch analysis is proven as suitable methodology to optimize energy costs in chemical and petrochemical plants. In this article, the heat integration of crude organic distillation unit was elucidated with pinch analysis and ASPEN pinch simulating tool. Minimum utilities are calculated by constructing composite curves, shifted composite curves, grand composite curves and using problem table algorithm. Simulation studies include the effect of ΔTmin on hot and cold utilities requirement. Further Exergy losses are calculated by constructing Carnot composite curves and Carnot grand composite curves.  Keywords: Pinch analysis, composite curves, utilities, HEN design, Exergy Cite this Article Sambasiva Rao Katuri,Seepana Murali M.
