Resumé
Hospitality Education is a close knit, unique, emerging academic area where there is a huge scope of further development and research. Since the first hotel management college in Mumbai in mid nineteen fifties, hospitality education has come a long way. Hospitality trends change very fast, the curriculum has to be designed keeping in mind the requirements of the industry. Also, there is a requirement of various types of teaching methodologies to keep the interest levels of students high since that itself is one of the challenges in hospitality education sector. Therefore there is a need to go beyond knowledge about effective teaching. In our research we have tried to focus on various strategies that could be helpful for the hospitality sector which benefit students beyond classroom and enrich teaching experience for the teachers/ trainers. The teaching methods suggested, incorporate specific training requirements for long term and short term courses leading to separate career options (entry level, supervisor, operations management trainee, management trainee) for a successful career. Primary data was collected by means of personal interview from hotel management trainers and hotels’ training managers in Delhi NCR region. Keywords: Hospitality Education, methodology, innovative teaching, successful careerDownloads
