This work represents the case study of Adalpur Micro watershed cadastral level land use/land cover (LULC) mapping for sustainable agricultural management. . This area is situated in Krishnawati seasonal river drainage area. IRS P-6 LISS-IV satellite images for two crop seasons (Rabi and Kharif) of the year 2007 were used to delineate LU/LC within the watershed area. The Rabi and kharif season data are interpreted digitally for delineation of land use/land cover classes. Cadastral data were superimposed for accuracy assessment and to get ownership information for quality management. The area was also classified into various categories based on fertility with the help of GIS database on soil parameters obtained from Agriculture Department of the Haryana state. The cropped area covers 64% and waste lands spreads over 23% of total geographical area. Area adjacent to Krishnawati River is fertile and used exhaustively that requires sustainable agriculture management. The problems of land and water management are required to reverse this trend and to restore and maintain productive capacity of the land in order to meet the demands of increasing population and other developmental needs. It is easy to identify areas for water storage and conservation for irrigation for agriculture through geo-spatial technology. Remote sensing and GIS technology significantly helpful in proper management and development of the agriculture land in a watershed area as it is time and cost effective. It is also helpful in spatio-temporal change detection of the landuse/landcover. Abstract: Remote sensing, GIS, micro watershedPublikováno
