Abstrakt

Forests and biodiversity is the key of all life forms. The richer the forest, greater the opportunity for economic development and adaptive responses to the challenge of climate change induced disasters. The forest area of Jharkhand is rapidly destroyed due to unscientific mining, industry induced air pollutants and human encroachment in forest area. This heavy deforestation activity has changed the ecosystem and environment. Recent advancement in remote sensing technology has enable us to identify the quantity of changes in forest areas has been occurred. In this study, three types of landsat satellite data of different time scale is used to monitor the changes of forest areas of Ghatsila, Musabani and Dhalbhumgarh block of East Singbhum district, Jharkhand state. Image subtraction, image ratioing and spectral angle mapper classification method is adopted to conclude the study. The multivariate statistical technique incorporated with the satellite data predicts a precise monitoring of forest changes. Keywords: Forest change, image subtraction, image ratioing, SAMCite this ArticleSomnath Maiti, Rajat Satpathy, Jatisankar Bandyopadhyay, et al.
