The aim of this paper is to explore the topological errors that may result from technical errors by the technicians, when they prepare, optimize, and develop digital maps specifically with reference to Jordanian Land and Survey Department maps. The main objective of this study is to identify and detect the topology errors found in Jordanian Land and Survey Department maps, and to suggest the suitable solutions and procedures to avoid the topology errors in preparing, optimizing and drawing land maps and to correct the existing mistakes in these maps. Thus, the foremost requirement is of topology controllers; and that is the use of a Geodatabase for targeting the maintenance of practical spatial data, especially with respect to the credibility of parcels maps owned by public and private parties. Any inaccuracy may lead to deficits in these properties, thus will have negative impact on owners of parcels. Furthermore, the consequence of these mistakes is an extra financial burden on the owners, whether in the form of minimizing the actual price of parcel when giving land to other persons. Analytical descriptive methodology is used for achieving the major goal of the study. The major focus is on the real phenomena and described them, as they are, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The spatial analysis design was also used by employing the suitable analysis procedures provided in the Geographic Information System (GIS) applications to examine the topology errors found in Jordanian Land and Survey Department maps. Study included all the maps and plates found in the Land and Survey Departments in Amman, Irbid, Tafeela, Aqaba, and +Madaba Governments, which represent (60%) of total land in the kingdom. The paper also proposes several recommendations including the use of the results reported in the applied studies.Cite this ArticleReem Adnan AL Kharouf.
