The present work deals with the methodology governing scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) for non-destructive testing of biological samples (liver cells and kidney cells). Acoustic microscopy was performed on liver cells and kidney cells for measuring their thickness and also to determine their shapes. This technique was also used for evaluation of internal damage to cells. SAM images were taken for further qualitative and quantitative assessments. Using the quantitative data obtained from the various scan modes (A, B, C-Scans), the time of flight and hence the material thickness and sound velocity are calculated. Keywords: Scanning acoustic microscopy, non-destructive testing, liver cells and kidney cellsCite this Article: Venkatesh KP, Mahata Tridib Kumar.
