Laccase has wide range of application in environmental remediation, but this is not produced in large amount due to its expenses in production. This study deals with the production of laccases from inexpensive lignocellulosic wastes such as rice straw, rice bran and banana skin. Marasmius alliaceus gave 1773.16 U/L laccase activities when rice straw was used as substrates and the activity reached by Trametes pubescens in banana skin is 1332 U/L and in rice bran by Trametes hirsuta is 632 U/L. The decolorization of model dyes, crystal violet and methyl red and textile effluent by fungi and partially purified laccase obtained from rice straw by Marasmius alliaceus was investigated. Partially purified laccase showed the ability to decolorize the dyes and textile effluent, attaining a percentage of decolorization of around 81% for methyl red and 73% for crystal violet and 86% for textile effluent.発行日
