Abstract

The most severe complication after the removal of mandibular third molars is injury to the inferior alveolar nerve or the lingual nerve. But, many patients still require the surgical removal of their impacted third molars to control infection and pain. These complications are rare and most of them are transient. This paper explains the relative risk of damage to the inferior alveolar and lingual nerves in patients who are undergoing lower third molar removal. Keywords: Inferior alveolar nerve, lingual nerve, third molar
