Résumé

Periodontal disease is inflammation of the surrounding structures of teeth. Prevalence of periodontal disease is significantly high in India. Modern dentistry suggests various measures to treat it. But because of being expensiveness of treatment and unavailability of trained dental professionals, especially in rural India, prevalence of periodontal disease is increasing day by day. Indian traditional medicine, ‘Ayurveda’ too suggest various treatment modalities which are inexpensive, effective and readily available even in rural India. Few important Ayurvedic treatment modalities for periodontal disease along with its pathophysiology are discussed here.
