Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Program on Knowledge of Mothers Regarding Prevention of Malnutrition among Preschool Children in Rural Punjab

Abstrakt

The children and the women of child-bearing age contribute to 63% of the population and they have special health needs. Since they are the major components of the family, the health services are directed towards them in order to attain total wellbeing of a family. Role of mothers in health of children is undisputable. But they need to be educated in health matters. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Planned Teaching Program (PTP) on knowledge of mothers regarding prevention of malnutrition among preschool children in selected rural community, Tarn Taran, Punjab, India. A quasi-experimental study with one group pre-test and post-test design was carried out using a sample of 100 mothers. The result indicates the pre-test mean knowledge score on prevention of malnutrition to be 10 with SD 2.01. The post-test mean knowledge score on prevention of malnutrition improved significantly to 19 with SD 3.26.
