Comparative Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Female Domestic Violence among Male and Female Adults

Abstrakt

The objective of this study was to assess and compare the knowledge regarding female domestic violence among male and female adults in the MMIMS&R Hospital, Mullana, Ambala, Haryana, India. Male and female adult visitors of the patients admitted in the MMIMS&R hospital were the subjects of the study. Total sample of the study was 200 (100 male and 100 female) adults. A structured questionnaire was prepared to focus on the knowledge of male and female adults regarding female domestic violence. The mean knowledge score of female adults (20.21) was higher than mean knowledge score of male adults (17.62) regarding female domestic violence. There was association of levels of knowledge of male adults with own income and victim of domestic violence. For female adults, association was found with partner’s income and type of family. The study concludes that female adults had very good knowledge of female domestic violence as compared to the male adults.Keywords: domestic violence, victim, income, family type, questionnaire
