The objective of the current study was to find out the level of immunization in selected slum area and to assess the impact of intervention package for improving immunization. An intervention study using pre and post design in two selected slum areas among children aged 12 –23 months. Number of children immunized as a result of intervention package increased from 50.2% to 87.7%. (p< 0.01). Antigen wise coverage also improved after intervention than it was before implementation. Dropout and left out declined significantly (7.1% and 5.2 % respectively after implementation than before implementation. There were no invalid doses given after introduction of intervention package. Incidence of side effects among vaccinated children also declined significantly. The findings suggest the effectiveness of a “package of interventions” in improving child immunization coverage in urban slums.  Kerwords: child health, immunization, urban slums, interventions, UIP
