Abstract

The physical consequences of compound fractures are obvious, but the psychological consequences are often not apparent. PTSD is a serious and chronic psychiatric disorder that follows overwhelmingly stressful events/high energy trauma events causing compound fractures. Existing measures for PTSD are largely inappropriate for use in orthopaedic practice as they are time taking to be employed. This study analyses PTSD in compound fractures and their outcome and to assess PC-PTSD screening tool in orthopaedic patients.
