Biofilm Forming and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Clinical Isolates of Staphylococcus Species

Abstract

Staphylococcus species are the most frequent causes of infection and infections on indwelling medical devices, which characteristically involve biofilms. This study observes the biofilm forming abilities and to analyze antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus species were found to be biofilm producers by microtitter plate assay method. And to evaluate the antibiofilm property of Moringa oleifera an Indian medicinal plant, known to possess antimicrobial activity. The results demonstrate the high antibiofilm activity of the ethanol extract of the plant against S.aureus (5.21 ± 0.04), respectively.  Keywords: Biofilm, Moringa oleifera, Staphylococus aureus, sputum             Cite this ArticlePriya S, Priya M.
