Abstrakt

Metoclopramide Hydrochloride, an anti-emetic drug is indicated for the patients with diabetic gastroparesis and Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). It is difficult for a patient to swallow a tablet during emesis. So, an attempt was made to develop a patient-friendly orally dissolving film using clove oil and menthol as flavoring agents, aspartame as sweetener, polyvinyl alcohol and glycerol as film forming agent and plasticizer respectively. Based on appearance and palatability finalized formulation was evaluated for content uniformity, disintegration, dissolution, surface morphology and mechanical properties. It was found to have disintegration time less than 30 sec, good mechanical properties and surface morphology.
