Antipyretic Effects of Whole Plant Extract of Nyctanthes arbortristis linn.

要旨

The antipyretic activity of Nyctanthes arbortristis linn extract is investigated for potential on normal body temperature and yeast-induced pyrexia in albino rats. The whole plant of Nyctanthes arbortristis linn at the doses of 200 mg/kg body weight p .o. showed significant reduction in normal body temperature and yeast-provoked elevated temperature in a dose-dependent manner. The effect also extended up to 4 hours after the drug administration. The anti-pyretic effect of whole plant extract was comparable to that of Paracetamol (150 mg/kg p.o.), a standard anti-pyretic agent.
