A Study of Allege Rape Cases in Barpeta District, Assam

Abstrakt

Sexual violence regarded as a global problem, not only in the geographical sense but also in terms of age and sex. This study was carried out in the dept. of Forensic Medicine, FAAMCH, Barpeta, ASSAM. A total 580 alleged rape cases coming for examination from different part of Barpeta district of Assam in the year 2014 and 2015 were studied and data were analyzed. Male victims were only 2(0.3%) and others (99.7%) were female. Maximum numbers (36.4%) of victims were age group between 11 to 20 years. The study highlights the trend of sexual violence in this locality with respect to socio-demographic characteristics, relation between accused and victims etc.Keywords: Toxicology, sexual violence, global problem, legal medicine, forensic evidences
