Mitigation of Inrush Current in Induction Motors using Prefluxing Technique
Abstract
Induction motor is one of the major inductive loads of power system. Its operating has the serious impact on the health of power system. Damage in induction motors can create a serious problem in transmission or distribution system. Three phase induction motor produces severe starting current which is called Inrush current. This causes shock to the driven equipment and damage to the mechanical system components. In this paper, prefluxing technique for reducing the inrush current as well as harmonics on induction motors is discussed.
