Resistance spot welding is a popular metal joining process, which is widely used in automobile industry, household and domestic appliances manufacturing industry and fabrication industry like air craft manufacturing industries [1, 2]. Experimental investigation was carried out on inner and outer sleeve, which is used in stove manufacturing industry. Material taken was stainless steel SS304 having thickness 0.5 mm for experiment. Experimental investigation was based on two defects, which are interfacial separation and improper nugget diameter in spot welding. For this investigation welding current and welding cycle time were taken as main parameters affecting on defect. Experimental work was based on design of experiment (DOE) full factorial design having L9 orthogonal array. Destructive and non-destructive testing such as tensile testing, nugget diameter checking, and ultrasonic testing were carried out for quality checking. Experimental work validated by smart weld software, which is having heat flow simulation and nugget parameters. Experimental investigation of real-time temperature measurement and thermal cycle was evaluated by Arduino-PLX-DAQ data acquisition software to hardware connection mechanism which was connected with thermocouple.Cite this ArticleHindocha Hardik P, Acharya GD.
