The design of crane is under the standard IS 3177 for steel plants and IS 4137 for power plants crane. Classification of crane is based on operating cycle or working cycle of crane as per IS 13834. In which the maximum and heavy duty working cycle of crane is considered as steel plant crane. Electric overhead cranes (EOT) are widely used as material handling equipment in industries. Among all its components, bottom pulley hook block is very critical for effective functioning of the crane. Hence, its selection must be based on cost criteria and feasibility. It should be designed considering factor of safety and which results in error free output. Design of bottom pulley hook block is possible with 8 pulley and assembled with single axle or 2 pairs of 4 pulley with single axle using IS 4137 and IS 3177.Keywords: EOT, hoisting mechanism, bottom pulley hook blockChavda Naresh D.
