Performance Improvements in Thin Client Through Software Fault Tolerance

Jigna Bhupendra Prajapati, Dr. N. K. Modi

Abstract

We have already moved towards hi-tech technology in each field of study in a cost effective manner. Thin client technology boasts of an impressive range of financial, technical, and administrative benefits combined with virtualization technology, higher bandwidth availability, and cheaper and high performance processors. In thin client systems, the server must function with a very high availability even under any fault condition. Here we focus on the thin client environment, and the working of thin client. Further, we discuss its performance issues and highlight its weak spots. We will try to discuss ways to make the thin client system more accurate by incorporating fault tolerance using a diverse design approach. The technique of design diversity applied to a thin client system will make it more effective in handling faults and enable them to be more consistent. We will approach the problems by focusing on the software and hardware faults and then apply the techniques of software and hardware fault tolerance, respectively.
